‘It’s off the side of my desk!’

Working in Canada this week, this is my new favourite phrase as it absolutely sums up so many of the challenges with advisory board management - it is often quite simply an additional thing to be fitted in around the day job, killing engagement and limiting the impact this expert, experienced and connected resource is able to have.
Those that make it a priority are reaping the rewards, building strong relationships that last across different board members and across different deans to inform strategic development. They are creating a culture where they welcome new ideas, ask questions and listen to the answers. In the words of one of our recent interviewees:
'Tell us what you think?
Tell us what you think we're missing?
Tell us about the opportunities where you think we could do better?'
We are honoured to be working with the Provost's Council and with two business schools out here, defining structures and roles and remits for effective future advisory input. The objective is to fly back to London on Friday night having eased advisory boards firmly back onto desks, so my clients are able to benefit in future from the strategic thinking and support of a diverse and highly experienced team of engaged advisors.
For a taste of what we can help you to achieve with your advisory boards, order our new complimentary case examples and as many of our clients do, book a no obligation exploratory call with us.
